Wednesday September 26 5:15pm Ottawa

The Radical Handmaids are organizing a gathering tomorrow, for those opposed to "everybody" all up in a lady's coochie.

What?

Human rights. Period. Harper is the devil for letting Motion 312 into the arena. Period.

Maybe you think "Fuck it, I haven't a uterus", or you do have a uterus and think "Fuck it, I'll never have an abortion no matter what happens" but the bigger picture here is that if some peoples' rights are at risk, ALL humans' rights are subject to the same risk.

Today it's women's reproductive rights, but it could easily be your rights at risk next. What if "they" decide that it's "best" to make bi-colour marriage illegal? How would you feel if that was voted on, and the chances of your beautiful union forcibly annulled because somebody somewhere figured it was icky to mix the browns and the whites? What if it was just that arbitrary and the blacks and reds and yellows weren't subject to the same conditions?

Amounts to a whole lotta thinking about other people's sex organs far too much.
What if "they" start regulating who qualifies to be a parent... might be a good idea actually, just sayin'. But what if "they" decide seniors don't qualify for medical care because they are too expensive to maintain? What if "they" decided that all the poor people should be executed, or all those who didn't graduate from University? What if the First Nations got together and forced us back to wherever the fuck the rest of us came from?

What if this "question" about female reproductive rights blossoms into a question about who has access to women's reproductive organs, and when? Are we inviting a world where "no" no longer means no, and soon we'll remove rape from the list of crimes a human can be charged for... This is a slippery slope we're on, could slide into a right shit storm with almost no warning at all.

There are a lot of subcategories a human can fall into. But we're all human. If you understand the bigger risk associated with Parliament re-opening any debate that separates women from humans, you might want to attend, or at the very least check in to what other people are doing in defense of our human rights.

I don't usually copy so much quote at once but this is a worthy exception (from their Facebook page), et en Francais aussi!

After months of boring us to tears and getting our blood boiling, Motion 312 will finally be voted on by Parliament on Wednesday, September 26th at 6pm.
Join us for a send-off!
Meet-up at the Eternal Flame for 5:15pm. We will give M-312 a proper send-off with short speeches and chants. Once the vote has been announced, we'll plan our next steps and introduce our OWN motions!

Wear red or your interpretation of a Handmaid costume. Bring a sassy sign and noise makers.
We won't allow this attack on our reproductive rights to go unnoticed.
Yes, they are calling for rain. Please bring an umbrella, a rain coat/poncho and weatherproof your signs.
We aren't made of sugar and anti-choicers don't leave our wombs along just because it's raining.
Spread butter on your faces and join us.
---------------
Reasons you need to attend this:
1- Tomorrow is not only the vote on Motion 312, it's also 'World Contraception Day'. We need to talk about the irony here!
2- '40 Days for Life', a marathon anti-choice protest in front of abortion clinics and hospitals begins tonight in Ottawa with a rally on the Hill. They will start their harassment of abortion staff and patients tomorrow. Let's stand in solidarity together and support those who are accessing abortion and those who must work under the threat of violence every day at clinics.
3- And of course, because rain or shine, an attack on our reproductive rights must not go unanswered.

If you think you know what is right for any other body, that isn't your own, you're delusional. Period. Even parents are only making their best guess about their wards. Period.

If you're fat you've already proven you can't be trusted to have your own best interests at heart, never mind somebody else's. Smoker, same shit. Drunk, workaholic, cutter, pill popper, shitty shoe wearer, the list goes on and on.

With all due respect for a person's opinion and their right to express it, I believe with all my literary heart that The "Pro-Life" Team needs to amend their moniker, to either "Anti-Choice" or "Pro Birth", to make it more truthful a label for their club. Truth in advertising, Bitches!

I may take on a 40 Days For Choice counter campaign against those haters... they start tonight and so do I!!
